Three Standard Callers for Coyote Hunting
Regardless of the hunting region, coyote hunting calls are considered to be a necessity. The most common type of call that the general public has heard of are probably duck calls, however, there are several types of calls within the outdoor adventures hunting market.
Most of these calls are versatile but some are very specific. The hunting calls used for coyotes are a mixture of both. Before a hunter steps out into the wild for their first coyote hunt they need to consider their call options.
The first and most common type of call is a diaphragm call. Normally these calls work well for both duck and coyote hunting. When used the diaphragm makes a squeaky sound which resembles a distress call of a rabbit. For desert regions, where cottontail rabbits are the primary source of food for coyotes, this is an ideal hunting call.
The second style of coyote call is the hand held Circe style. This particular style is made from plastic and in some cases wood. The call gives a wide territory range and carries a deep raspy call. Howling callers are a very popular design and used by many hunters. This style of caller has a cow horn shape or a drinking horn style. They can be carried on hunting packs and are versatile. Updated designs have a plastic mouthpiece for ease of cleaning and replacement if needed. The versatility comes in the fact that the howlers can dual as a turkey call.
Regardless of the terrain and style of hunting there is a caller that will fit all coyote hunting needs. Callers come in plastic, wood, reed and bamboo. These callers can be purchased at hunting and outdoor supply stores at affordable prices. There are even ways of customizing personal hunting callers, for even more versatility.
